“Romance”

In order for life to be bearable
there has to be romance.
Not necessarily between persons.

A longing glance at a shaft of light
one Sunday morning;
an aching look at an old book on a table;

a yearning remembrance of a person long gone.
Such things pain the heart a little
and at the same time makes one smile.
