“Love Poem for an Inanimate Object”

Flower Art Digital Painting Background By Lucy Baldwin

Oh, empty bench
How long has it been
Since I last sat on you?
The varnish has peeled
Off from your golden skin.
Your bones have grown cold
And brittle. Dirt has gathered
On your surface, along with
Mud, fur, and hair. Will
You still welcome my weight
If I’ll sit on you tonight?
Will not your feet give way?
Won’t we both crash down and
Together shatter our frames?
