I stood on the boat,
the sky is clear,
the wind is crisp,
the sea is deep, inviting;
it shimmers, silver blue.
If it could speak, it will speak
like this: “Adventure awaits, or rather,
Life itself, is calling out to you. Will you
not go into the deep? Will you not cut
the rope that binds you to this cursed,
arid place? Will you not pull the anchor
and set sail?” The boat creaked beneath
my feet as I bent to pick up the dagger.
