“Aftershocks”

Poet

I thought you touched
The table when
It started to shake.
I half-peeked to check
And saw
Your legs below
But they were
Fixed to the floor, long
And motionless.
And your arms are crossed
Over your chest.
You stared at me.
No, I’m not a pervert.
I was simply checking
Whether the earth
Moved again while
We were finalizing
Our orders.
I swear I didn’t notice
The shape of your calf
Or the height of your heels.
There,
There it is again.
Did you
Not feel that?
