“Where Are You?”

008

Daddy,
where are you?

I looked at the living room
sofa
and you are not there
watching TV.

I looked inside your
room
and you are not there
in your seat
using the
computer.

I turned toward
your closet
and dresser
and you are not there.
Your clothes
are there,
hung and folded.
Your jeans are there,
your shirts
and socks are there.
Your things are laid out
over your table.
But you are not there.

I entered the driveway
and you are not there
in the main door
behind the screen
waiting for us.

You are not
in the garden.
You are not
with the dogs.
You are not in the kitchen
eating.
You haven’t gone
on a trip somewhere,
or visited someone.

Daddy,
Where are you?
